EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy recommended by the World Health Organization for trauma and PTSD. It helps reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories so you can feel less overwhelmed and function more steadily in daily life.
I work primarily with adults who appear capable and responsible in their daily lives, yet feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck, or impacted by unresolved experiences. Many are navigating trauma, grief, or significant life changes and are seeking therapy that supports deeper processing and lasting integration — not just symptom relief. This work is most effective for those who are committed to their wellbeing and open to engaging in therapy consistently, as steady sessions are often essential for meaningful trauma-focused healing.

EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming in the present. It can be especially helpful when painful memories feel “stuck,” or when insight alone has not led to lasting change.
EMDR is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess difficult or traumatic memories so they no longer feel overwhelming in the present. Rather than focusing solely on talking through past experiences, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) to support the brain’s natural healing processes.
Many clients choose EMDR when they feel “stuck,” when insight alone has not led to change, or when emotional reactions feel disproportionate to current situations.
EMDR therapy begins with careful preparation and stabilization. We work collaboratively to ensure you feel safe, resourced, and supported before processing distressing memories. Sessions are paced thoughtfully, with attention to nervous system regulation, emotional safety, and your individual goals.
While EMDR can be efficient, the focus is not speed — it is creating lasting, integrated change.
EMDR and trauma-focused therapy typically involves regular weekly sessions for a period of time in order to support effective and meaningful progress.
EMDR therapy can be especially helpful if you feel stuck despite insight-oriented therapy, experience strong emotional reactions that feel out of proportion, or want to address the root of distress rather than manage symptoms alone. During a consultation, we can explore whether EMDR is an appropriate and supportive option for your goals.
I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the CRPO, offering secure virtual EMDR therapy to adults across Canada in accordance with professional guidelines.
